Labour Ducks Big Issues In Brent

September 10, 2003 12:59 PM
George W Bush & Tony Blair

Don't mention the war! Tony Blair and George W Bush took us to war earlier this year, but the Iraq war is just one of the subjects Labour does not want to talk about in the by-election.

Local people are asking where the Labour candidate stands on big issues like Post Office closures, Iraq and soaring Council Tax bills.

Labour seem to be desperately trying avoid mentioning controversial issues in the campaign so far. In addition to this, their candidate didn't even attend a public meeting on the war with Iraq due to a prior engagement.

Sarah Teather said, "Labour's line in this campaign appears to be 'don't mention the war!' On top of this they don't want to talk about Post Office closures, Council Tax rises and problems in local schools and hospitals."

Sarah added, "No wonder people are asking where the Labour candidate stands on these and other issues."

If you are a resident of the Brent Central constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
