The Liberal Democrats are saying no to tuition fees

Local Liberal Democrat MP Sarah Teather is set to vote against Government plans to introduce top-up fees. The Liberal Democrats will be opposing the introduction of top-up fees which are set to increase student debt to staggering levels.

Brent East MP Sarah Teather said:

"This bill must be defeated. Top-up fees are a poll tax on students. Students will be left with a potential staggering level of debt if these proposals go through.

"I am proud that the Liberal Democrats are opposing these plans. I would urge the Labour MP's to honour their 2001 manifesto pledge and vote against the bill."

In 2001 Labour MP's stood on a manifesto that stated that top-up fees would not be introduced. The Liberal Democrats would scrap tuition fees and top-up fees.

If you are a resident of the Brent Central constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
