Teather Concerned as Floods Hit Brent

Blocked drains have been blamed by local residents for the flooding.

Flooding hit Brent on Tuesday evening leaving local businesses and residents' basements knee-deep in muddy water. Blocked drains have been blamed for the floods. Brent East MP Sarah Teather has written to Thames Water and Gareth Daniel, Chief Executive of Brent Council.

Sarah Teather, local Liberal Democrat MP and herself a victim of the floods, has said today: "Flooding is not only a major inconvenience but costs a lot of money to clean up. The Council and Thames Water must work together to take urgent action to prevent it from happening again."

Willesden High Road is the worst affected area with basements along the road calf-deep in muddy water. Sarah Teather MP's office at 1 High Road suffered flooding in the cellar.
