Sarah Teather is campaigning for a cleaner Brent
Local Liberal Democrat MP Sarah Teather has today written to Brent Council demanding that Brent residents get better value for money from their Council Tax bills. The Brent East MP has received a number of complaints over the Bank Holiday weekend from local residents concerned in delays in having their refuse collected.
When Streetcare contacted the local MP's office they said that the problems with the collection of rubbish were occurring all over the Borough due to several ONYX vehicles being off the road. Some residents who did not have their refuse collected on Friday had to wait until Tuesday before it was collected. At one point last week according to Streetcare five vehicles were off the road leaving many residents with uncollected rubbish.
Local Liberal Democrat MP Sarah Teather said:
"This year the Council Tax has once again been increased above inflation by both the Mayor and the Council it is time Brent residents got better value for their money. The Council must do better in terms of providing a better refuse service. Many residents had to wait all weekend for their rubbish to be collected, this is not acceptable."
