Local Liberal Democrat MP Sarah Teather has today responded to pleas for help from the APDA (Asian Peoples with Disabilities Association) who face eviction from the current home at Central Middlesex Hospital on January 10th by the North West London Hospitals NHS Trust.

After a long search new premises were finally found for the association last year at the ALRIC Centre, APDA were due to move in this month after the building was renovated to the required standards for elderly disabled people by Brent Council's contractors.

With the eviction date fast approaching the new premises still remain incomplete with fire exits that are not wheelchair accessible, smoke detectors are not installed and fire and electrical certification is not in place.

Brent East MP Sarah Teather has today written to both Brent Council and the North West London Hospitals NHS Trust asking that the renovation work be completed as soon as possible and that APDA are allowed to stay in their present location till the work is complete.

Local Liberal Democrat MP Sarah Teather said:

"It is clearly unacceptable for the Hospital Trust to evict APDA and force them to move to a building that is not yet suitable to accommodate elderly disabled people. The Association has very particular needs in terms of the care that it provides I hope the Council will act swiftly to bring the building up to the required level."

If you are a resident of the Brent Central constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
