Sarah Teather was joined by Norman Baker MP and local residents to protest about the level of pollution from Neasden Goods Depot
Local Liberal Democrat MP, Sarah Teather was this week joined by the Liberal Democrat Shadow Environment Spokesperson Norman Baker MP and local residents protesting over the pollution from Neasden Goods Depot.
The site has regularly caused level of pollution in the nearby area fourteen times over the Government's recommended levels. Last year, Brent East MP Sarah Teather chaired a meeting between the Environment Agency and Brent Council's Environmental Health Chiefs, to discuss the problem.
Local Liberal Democrat MP Sarah Teather said:
"I wanted Norman to come and see what is a quite unacceptable situation for local people. The problems of Neasden Goods Depot have gone on for far too long, it is time we had decisive action. I will continue to pressure the Environment Agency and the Council until local people get results.
Liberal Democrat Shadow Environment Secretary, Norman Baker MP said:
"In the short time I have been here, you can taste the pollution in the air. It is no wonder this is causing misery for local residents.
"Despite hard work from Sarah Teather, clearly the Environment Agency and the Council have failed to act in united fashion in order to tackle the problem. I shall be writing to the Chief Executive of the Environment Agency urging her to investigate this matter."
