Local Liberal Democrat MP Sarah Teather has today written to both Brent Council and Rank Group PLC over the derelict cinema on Willesden Lane, Kilburn. The building has been left empty for many years and is now becoming a site for fly-tipping and other anti-social behaviour such as street drinking and drug usage.
The Brent East MP has written to both the Council and Rank Group PLC to ask what plans they have for the site and whether they have considered placing an gating the alleyway at the side of the building which is the prime spot for anti-social behaviour.
Local Liberal Democrat MP Sarah Teather said:
"This building at the moment is just going to waste and is becoming nothing more than an eyesore. It is such a shame that nothing has been done with it considering the lack of facilities for local people.
"The side of the building is also becoming a haven for anti-social behaviour. I have asked both the Council and Rank Group to look at installing an alley gate at the side of the building to try and tackle these problems. Something must be done; local residents should not have to endure the problems that they are currently facing. I have spoken to one local female resident who is particularly concerned about people congregating down the side of the alley, late at night."
