People in Dudden Hill are turning to Sarah Teather's Lib Dems

The Liberal Democrats won a decisive victory in last night's Dudden Hill council by-election, almost tripling their majority from last May.

Dudden Hill residents shunned the highly negative Labour campaign to give local campaigner Pawan Gupta 39.8% of the vote. The Conservatives came a distant third.

Dudden Hill lies in the centre of the new Brent Central constituency, which will replace Brent's existing parliamentary seats, Brent East and Brent South. Local Liberal Democrat MP Sarah Teather has announced she will contest Brent Central at the next general election.

Local Liberal Democrat MP for Brent East Sarah Teather said:

"I warmly congratulate Pawan Gupta on a great by-election result. Pawan has already been working hard on the things that residents care about, and will be an excellent councillor for our area.

"I look forward to working with Pawan on issues like Neasden Goods Yard and the fight to save our local NHS."

Brent Liberal Democrats Spokesperson Peter Hannon said:

"People in Brent are turning away from Labour in favour of Sarah Teather and the Liberal Democrats. Dudden Hill lies right in the heart of the new Brent Central constituency, which will be a straight fight between Labour and the Lib Dems.

"The Conservatives can't win here. People who want to take a stand against the disastrous policies of Tony Blair and Gordon Brown should vote Liberal Democrat."

If you are a resident of the Brent Central constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
