MP Sarah Teather met with local cafe campaigners
Brent's local Liberal Democrat MP Sarah Teather this week met with the campaign committee for the Roundwood Park Café.
The café in the park is popular with people from all across London, and local people have mounted a vigorous campaign to demonstrate how the café is an important community resource.
The current manager of the café is Sarah's constituent, and as her MP, Sarah has been working with her for some time to try and help resolve a dispute with Brent Council over the backpay of rent. Sarah has already met with Council officers and has firmly supported the need for a café in the park.
Local Liberal Democrat MP for Brent East Sarah Teather said:
"People all over Brent care very much about Roundwood Park and the facilities on offer there. Having a café in the park binds the community together and gives local people an important place to meet friends.
"I went to meet the campaign team to offer my support in their work to resolve the current difficulties with the Council. I have already made my views clear to Council officers that they should work cooperatively and transparently with the current owner to set a fair rent.
"I will continue to press the Council to resolve the issues with the café's current tenant as quickly as possible. It is absolutely vital that we preserve a café in the park for the community."
