Sarah Teather's constituents invited her to join their Indian Independence Day celebrations
Liberal Democrat MP for Brent East Sarah Teather joined the Brent Indian Association to mark Indian Independence Day.
India's Independence Day is celebrated every year on August 15 to commemorate Indian independence from British rule in 1947. The day is a national holiday in India and is celebrated all over the country through flag-hoisting ceremonies and the distribution of sweets.
The Brent Indian Association invited Brent's Liberal Democrat MP Sarah Teather to a local flag-hoisting ceremony.
Liberal Democrat MP for Brent East Sarah Teather said:
"One of the best things about Brent is that we have lots of people from different cultures living side by side. The Indian community in Brent has made a huge contribution to our borough, and I was delighted to be invited to join my constituents in marking this important anniversary."
