Sarah Teather has wished her constituents a very happy Christmas

Brent's local Liberal Democrat MP Sarah Teather has wished everyone in Brent a very happy Christmas and best wishes for 2009.

In her Christmas message, Sarah said:

"I would like to thank all the community groups in Brent who have welcomed me to their Christmas celebrations again this year. We have a fantastic community spirit in Brent, and it has been wonderful to join people around the borough in the festive spirit of hope and friendship.

"Many people are feeling anxious about the year ahead, and it's important to take a moment to reflect on those who are struggling to make ends meet, or who don't have a home to go to this Christmas. I hope people will perhaps think about helping out a local charity, or simply calling in on an elderly neighbour.

"Christmas is a very special time of year for me. One of the wonderful things about Brent is that everyone comes together to celebrate one another's festivals so, whether you are celebrating Christmas, Diwali, Eid or Hanneke, I would like to wish you the very best for a healthy and happy 2009."
