Local MP Sarah Teather believes it is important to mark Holocaust Memorial Day each year
Local Brent Liberal Democrat MP Sarah Teather joined her constituents at Brent Town Hall on Sunday to honour those killed in the Holocaust.
On and around Holocaust Memorial Day, schools, local communities and faith groups from across the UK join together to mark Holocaust Memorial Day. Thousands of events are held across the country to commemorate all those who suffered at the hands of the Nazis during the Holocaust and in more recent genocides.
Sarah has previously visited Auschwitz on a trip organised by the Holocaust Educational Trust.
Local Liberal Democrat MP for Brent East Sarah Teather said:
"Having been to Auschwitz, and seen first hand the horrors of the holocaust I feel strongly that Holocaust Memorial Day must be honoured. It is an important opportunity to make sure that the horrendous crimes, racism and victimisation committed during the Holocaust are neither forgotten nor repeated.
"While remembering all the victims killed and persecuted by the Nazis we must also continue to challenge all types of prejudice and discrimination in today's society. I was pleased to join my constituents at Brent Town Hall to mark such an important occasion."
