Local MP Sarah Teather was voted Opposition Parliamentarian of the Year by Asian Voice readers
Local Liberal Democrat Brent MP Sarah Teather has been voted Opposition Parliamentarian of the year by readers of the popular Asian Voice newspaper.
Sarah fought off tough competition from other parliamentarians, including Shadow Chancellor Vince Cable, to win the award in a ceremony in the House of Commons on Thursday night. The award recognises Sarah's robust work in holding the Government to account.
Other winners in the annual Asian Voice Political and Public Life Awards included Christian Colson, the co-producer of Slumdog Millionaire, and Eastenders actress Nina Wadeya.
Local Liberal Democrat MP for Brent East Sarah Teather said:
"It is a real honour to be given this award. Asian people have made a huge contribution to life in my constituency and play a vital role in our community here in Brent.
"I send my warm congratulations to the other winners, and a huge thank you to everyone who voted for me."
