Local MP Sarah Teather is working to clean up Brent
Local MP Sarah Teather has joined forces with local residents, Brent Council, local Liberal Democrat Councillors and voluntary organisations to give Willesden Green a spring clean.
The clean up day was organised by the Council as part of its Neighbourhood Working programme. There was entertainment including face painting and a steel band and teams of volunteers tackled problem graffiti spots and litter areas.
The areas targeted were mainly private property which would not normally be cleaned by the council but which had accumulated litter through no fault of the owners. These included front gardens in Hawthorn Road and Litchfield Gardens where litter blows in off the streets.
Sarah Teather, MP for Brent East said: "Willesden Green has great community spirit and it was great to see everyone getting together, having fun and improving the neighbourhood at the same time."
Councillor Gavin Sneddon said: "There are parts of Willesden Green which are private property but which affect the look of the whole area. It was great to get stuck in with volunteers and local residents to tackle some of these."
