Sarah Teather MP celebrates Navratri

Sarah Teather celebrated Navratri with local people

Local Liberal Democrat MP for Brent East Sarah Teather has celebrated the Hindu festival of Navratri in Brent with her constituents.

Navratri, which means "nine nights", is one of the major Hindu festivals, and symbolises the triumph of good over evil. As the name implies, the festival is celebrated for nine days, with dancing and prayer.

Local Liberal Democrat MP for Brent East Sarah Teather said:

"I would like to congratulate the Hindu Council for all the support they give to the many community groups who put on events for worshippers in Brent during Navratri. I would also to thank the many individual organisations who made me feel so welcome at their celebrations this week.

"Navratri in Brent is a big festival and it was a great honour as the local MP to be invited to join in the celebrations."

If you are a resident of the Brent Central constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
