Sarah Teather is campaigning for a refund for local people
Brent East MP Sarah Teather has condemned the Mayor of London's plans to push through above inflation increases in tube fares, at a time when passengers on the Jubilee line are receiving a reduced service.
Jubilee line trains are currently suspended every weekend for engineering works, leaving passengers stranded and forced to rely on replacement buses. Sarah has been campaigning for season ticket holders to be refunded for the two days a week when they cannot travel.
Local Liberal Democrat MP for Brent East Sarah Teather said:
"Boris Johnson is having a laugh at Londoners expense. Time and time again busy Londoners who rely on the tube have seen fares rocket.
"Many people in my constituency have paid for a seven day service but are only receiving a five day service. Transport for London should play fair and refund the difference.
"This is the worst possible time to push up prices. People's finances are hard pressed, and the Jubilee line is in chaos every weekend. Passengers should not be forced to pay more at a time when they are receiving a sub-standard service."
