Sarah Teather is campaigning for a refund for local people
Brent's local Liberal Democrat MP Sarah Teather has written to the Managing Director of London Underground demanding urgent action following his comments that Metropolitan line trains might be allowed to stop at Willesden Green station.
Jubilee line trains are set to be suspended at the weekend until January 2010, to allow for engineering works. Despite spending half a million pounds on platform upgrades at Willesden Green station, Transport for London have been refusing to allow Metropolitan trains to stop there.
However, speaking LBC Radio on Saturday Richard Parry, the Managing Director of London Underground, appeared to support the idea.
Sarah wants local people to be able to continue to enjoy a weekend service, and has also been campaigning for a refund for season ticket holders. She has also raised the issue with London Mayor Boris Johnson, and will meet the Mayor's transport adviser on 26th October.
Local Liberal Democrat MP for Brent East Sarah Teather said:
"Transport for London need to get their act together and immediately clear up the confusion over this issue. Having spent a small fortune on refurbishing the Metropolitan line platform at Willesden Green, surely it is blindingly obvious that trains should be allowed to stop there?
"Local people are understandably tearing their hair out at the seemingly never ending disruption to their weekends. I will be keeping up the pressure on transport chiefs to stop dithering and make sure that anyone who has paid for a seven day service is getting one."
