Gordon Brown's Labour Minister Dawn Butler was forced to apologise

Labour Government Minister Dawn Butler has been forced to apologise for running a desperate smear campaign against local Liberal Democrat Sarah Teather.

With Dawn Butler shamed over her decision to claim over £60,000 to fund a second London home, panicked Labour spin doctors have sought to smear election rival Sarah Teather. Sarah famously refused to claim from the second home allowance, and had campaigned to abolish the allowance for London MPs long before the scandal broke.

The race for Brent Central has been electrified by Nick Clegg's performance in the leadership debates, with more and more people coming forward to support Sarah Teather's campaign.

The Conservatives are out of the race in Brent Central, with odds of 100/1.

Liberal Democrat Spokesman Chris Leaman said:

"People in Brent will be horrified and disgusted by Dawn Butler's actions. First she claimed tens of thousands of pounds of our money to lavish on her second London home, then she tried to smear her election rival.

"Everyone knows that Sarah Teather is famous for refusing to accept a penny from the shamed second home allowance, and for battling to have the allowance axed for London MPs.

"Labour's gutter politics of smear and innuendo has got no place in Brent."

If you are a resident of the Brent Central constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
