Local Liberal Democrat Sarah Teather is going to head to head with Labour
Bookmakers William Hill have today installed Sarah Teather as favourite for the Brent Central seat, as more and more local people have said they are backing Sarah's campaign.
As MP for Brent East Sarah has helped over 15,000 people from her office in Willesden Green which is open for 5 days a week for members of public.
Sarah was famed for not claiming a penny in second home allowance. Her opponent, Labour's Dawn Butler, claimed £66,000 of taxpayers' money for a second home despite already having a home closer to parliament in Stratford.
The Conservatives have already thrown in the towel in Brent Central. David Cameron has said the seat will be a close fight between Labour and the Liberal Democrats and top bookies have the Tories at 100/1.
Liberal Democrat Brent Central candidate Sarah Teather said:
"It's great that so many local people are supporting our campaign for Brent Central, but it will be really close on Thursday. Every vote is going to make a difference.
"Brent is a remarkable place; I have helped thousands of local people from my local constituency office in the High Road and it would be such a privilege to carry on representing the area where I live.
"If you are fed up with the same old Labour/Tory failed politics please do give your vote to the Liberal Democrats in Brent."
Liberal Democrat Spokesperson Chris Leaman said:
"Labour have failed Brent and failed Britain. They have nothing left to offer apart from desperate smears and lies. While Sarah Teather refused to take a penny from the second home allowance, Dawn Butler took £66,000 of taxpayer's money for a second London home.
"Dawn Butler's campaign has been an absolute disgrace. They have been forced to apologise to Sarah Teather twice for telling bare faced lies. The people of Brent deserve better than this from the people who seek to represent them. On Thursday May 6th the people of Brent can end Labour's lies forever.
"Even David Cameron has said the Conservatives are out of the race here. With bookies placing the Tory candidate's chances at 100 to 1, a vote for the Conservatives in Brent will only let Labour sneak back in."
