Local MP Sarah Teather has criticised Labour for misleading local schools
Commenting on yesterday's announcement on school building, local Brent Central MP Sarah Teather said:
"It is very upsetting that local schools in Brent have been deliberately led up the garden path by Labour. Brent schoolchildren who desperately need new classrooms have had their hopes raised and dashed only because Labour wanted their parents' votes.
"The lasting legacy of the previous Labour government is a string of extravagant election promises and not enough cash to pay for them. Labour were forced to cancel new college buildings after they realised they had promised more money than they could afford, yet they went on to take exactly the same approach with local schools.
"The best way we can help Brent Schools is by changing the programme so that money that would have spent on bureaucracy and consultants will be spent directly on doing up our schools. As a local MP I will carry on my battle for all of Brent's schools and to make sure every pound makes it to the front line.
"Labour have been reckless with schools money and reckless with their promises. They need to stop treating local people like fools. Everyone knows that money is tight and Labour's cheques aren't worth the paper they are written on."
