Seven-year old Lara Appowitzer, of Leopold Primary School, has been declared the winner of this year's competition to design a Christmas card for Brent Central's MP Sarah Teather.
To mark her achievement, Sarah today presented Lara with her £50 book token prize. Lara's winning design has been printed on to 20,000 Christmas cards which will be delivered to households across Brent throughout December. Lara also won a guided tour of Wembley Stadium for herself and her class.
Lara's fun and imaginative design was chosen from amongst a very strong field of entries from schools across the borough. A selection of the best designs from the runners up are currently being displayed in Sarah Teather's new constituency office at 70 Walm Lane, Willesden Green, NW2 4RA.
Commenting, local MP Sarah Teather said:
"Judging the Christmas Card Competition is one of the highlights of my year and, as always, the standard of entries is exceptionally high."
"Brent's children are very talented and picking a winner is always very difficult but I was really impressed by Lara's design and the way she captured the Christmas spirit. I hope that she ejoys getting to see her design delivered to houses across Brent."
"I would also like to congratulate the staff and head teacher of Leopold Primary school as this is the second year in a row that Leopold's pupils have taken the top prize."
