Working to Make Brent Better

Local Brent Lib Dems have paid tribute to the work of Paul Daisley, MP for Brent East, whose death was announced earlier today.

Leading Brent East Lib Dem, Sarah Teather, said "Paul was a dedicated MP who served the people of Brent for many years as a Councillor even before being elected to Parliament."

"My thoughts are with Paul's family and friends at this time as they try to come to terms with their loss."

Cllr Paul Lorber, leader of the Lib Dem Group on Brent Council said "I was most sorry to hear of Paul Daisley's death.

"My Liberal Democrat Group were happy to support Paul for the Leadership of Brent Council in 1996. He and I worked closely together at that time, and our political partnership worked well for two years until May 1998.

"Paul made a major contribution to turning round the fortunes of Brent Council, and this is clearly his major political achievement for our area.

"I was saddened by both the news of Paul's illness, and his untimely death from cancer. The fact he had barely embarked on his Parliamentary career before having this taken from him is a true loss.

"Whatever differences we have with Labour in Brent, our thoughts are very much with Paul's family, friends and Council colleagues at this time.

"On behalf of all nine Liberal Democrat councillors, I offer our sympathy."
