Local Patients Anger

Local people are angry at the long waits for NHS treatment in our area, a Lib Dem survey has revealed. Nearly 2,000 people have taken part in Sarah Teather's NHS Inquiry so far. The results from the survey will be used to help improve health services in our area.

The biggest issue for many local people remains the long waits for treatment. Two thirds of patients felt that waiting times were unreasonable, with many having to wait over ten months for treatment.

Local campaigner Sarah Teather said, "The survey has produced some very worrying results. Labour promised shorter waiting times, but for many this has just not happened."

Staff praised

The survey showed that when patients finally received treatment, they were usually very pleased with it.

Sarah Teather commented, "It is clear that local NHS staff are doing an excellent job for patients. However they are being let down by the system and a Government that is unwilling to listen to NHS professionals."

Labour shame

Three quarters of those surveyed said that they were dissatisfied with Labour's handling of the NHS. The survey also showed that many people are not getting the medicine they need because of rising prescription charges under Labour.
