Local Liberal Democrat MP Sarah Teather is urging the Post Office and the Government not to close the Post Office on Willesden High Road. The Post Office backed by the Labour Government is planning to close seven Post Offices in Brent. The Brent East MP has a petition against the closures in her office on 1 High Road, Willesden Green. Local residents can also sign a petition online at http://www.brentlibdems.org.uk/petitions.php?petition=1 This week Sarah Teather is set to hand in the objections of Brent residents to Tony Blair at Downing Street. Local Liberal Democrat MP Sarah Teather said: "These closures would be disastrous for the residents of Brent that rely on local Post Offices so heavily. Pensioners and disabled people will be hit hardest by these closures as they will have to travel further to reach their nearest Post Office." "I find it appalling that the Labour Government is actively encouraging the destruction of our local Post Office network in Brent. "I hope that Tony Blair listens to Brent residents when I present him with the views of local people."
