Sarah Teather MP is campaigning alongside local residents for traffic calming measures

Local Liberal Democrat MP Sarah Teather has today met with local residents on Village Way and Quainton Street to discuss traffic problems in the area. The Brent East MP has presented to Brent Council a petition from well over four hundred residents who are concerned about the flow of traffic along Village Way and Quainton Street.

Many drivers are using Village Way as a short-cut from the North Circular and are not reducing their speed. At a meeting today with local residents the local MP witnessed a few instances of near misses with drivers pulling out from side streets onto Village Way, whilst drivers are travelling at high speed down Village Way and Quainton Street.

Local residents are concerned that the once Wembley Stadium is opened the traffic flow will increase down the residential roads.

Local Liberal Democrat MP Sarah Teather said:

"The views of local residents are clear, action needs to be taken to solve the traffic problems before a serious accident occurs. I have seen for myself near misses when visiting local residents in the area. Traffic is travelling far to quickly down Village Way and Quainton Street, there is potential for a serious accident with young children playing in their front gardens and a nearby school.

"I hope the Council will listen to the views of local residents and act to reduce the traffic and it's speed."
