Sarah is calling for Brent Council to take greater care over residents personal records

Local Liberal Democrat MP Sarah Teather has today urged Brent Council to take greater care of residents personal information. A number of unshredded residents personal details were found in rubbish bins by Brent Council's Mahatma Gandhi House. The documents found by a member of the public contained details of residents bank accounts details and other personal information.

Local Liberal Democrat MP Sarah Teather said:

"The Council has a duty of care when handling residents personal information and clearly in this case they have failed. I am deeply alarmed that such sensitive information should be so lightly treated by the Council. The Council must tighten up its procedures so that instances like this never occur again."
