Local Liberal Democrat MP Sarah Teather has expressed concern at the latest Car Theft figures released by the Government. Between 2001-2003 Car theft rocketed by almost 22% making Brent the highest rise in such crime in London. Overall in London Car Theft fell by 15.82% in this period. Whilst the rest of London saw a drop in car theft, the chances of a Brent resident having their car stolen has increased dramatically. These figures show why we need more police on patrol in Brent." The figures released by the Government are for 2001-2003, the last full years for such figures. On average car theft fell in London by 15.82% between 2001-2003.
