Teather Welcomes Islamia Girls School To Westminster3.47.58pm UTC (GMT +0000) Wed 28th Feb 2007
Local Liberal Democrat MP for Brent East, Sarah Teather, yesterday welcomed pupils from the Brent Islamia Girls School on Salusbury Road to Westminster. On hearing that the school was taking part in the National Youth Parliament Competition, Sarah invited pupils to Westminster to experience a real debate in the House of Commons. Local Liberal Democrat MP for Brent East, Sarah Teather, said: "I was really pleased to welcome the girls from the Islamia Girls School. It's great to see young people in Brent engaging with British politics and learning about the democratic process first hand. "The Parliament building is simply spectacular and I hope it inspires some of the pupils to think about returning as elected members one day. "I wish them all the very best of luck and will do all I can to support them in the National Youth Parliament Competition."
