Sarah says people in Brent can help in the fight against climate change

Brent's local Liberal Democrat MP Sarah Teather has encouraged her constituents to get involved in the fight against climate change.
Sarah was invited to launch the National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts' (NESTA) "Big Green Challenge" - a competition which challenges community groups to find new ways to reduce their CO2 emissions. The best ideas will win a share of £1million.
Research released for the launch of the Big Green Challenge reveals that 8 out of 10 people in London and the South East are concerned about the effects of global warming on their communities.
Local Liberal Democrat MP for Brent East Sarah Teather said:
"Everyone in Brent should be encouraged to get involved in the fight against climate change. Our world is precious and it's so important that we preserve it for the next generation.
"Lots of people tell me they feel helpless to stop global warming. But there are lots of little things we can all do that, when combined with the actions of others, make a big difference. For example, I cut down on my car use by travelling to work using public transport, and use energy efficient light bulbs at home.
"Here in Brent we have a real spirit of community activism and civic responsibility. I hope that local groups will put their heads together to come up with new ways of fighting climate change."
