Local Brent MP Sarah Teather took the Jubilee Line fight to City Hall

Local Liberal Democrat MP for Brent East Sarah Teather today took her fight for a seven day tube service to City Hall, and won a promise that Metropolitan line trains would now be made to stop at Willesden Green.

The Jubilee line is currently out of action every weekend for engineering works. Yet, despite spending over half a million pounds on station upgrades at Willesden Green, Transport for London had previously refused to ease disruption by stopping Metropolitan line trains at the station.

The Mayor's transport spokesman, Kulveer Ranger, today caved in to Sarah's campaign and promised that Metropolitan line trains would be made to stop at Willesden Green. Sarah has pledged to continue fighting until a date has been set and a full seven day service is resumed for her constituents.

Local Liberal Democrat MP for Brent East Sarah Teather said:

"Local people are quite understandably tearing their hair out at the shoddy service they have received from Transport for London.

"With passengers shelling out for a seven day service, and Mayor Johnson recently announcing further inflation busting fare hikes, it is grossly unfair that people in Willesden Green and Neasden should find themselves stranded every weekend without a tube.

"Huge numbers of people have got behind my campaign for a seven day service, and I'm absolutely delighted that the Mayor has today accepted that Metropolitan line trains must stop at Willesden Green. Quite simply, Transport for London should not be charging their passengers for a seven day tube service if they are not capable of providing one.

"The Mayor must now promise to make this a priority and pull out all the stops to bring the Metropolitan line to Willesden Green as soon as possible. I will continue campaigning on behalf of my constituents until the date has been sent and the trains are pulling into the platform."
