Sarah Teather has fought hard for local people against Transport for London's weekend tube suspensions

Brent's campaigning Liberal Democrat MP Sarah Teather has thanked all those who supported her fight for a seven day tube service from Willesden Green, as City Hall finally named the date that Metropolitan line trains would stop at the station.

With the Jubilee line currently out of action every weekend for engineering works, Sarah has run a huge campaign to have the Metropolitan line stop at Willesden Green instead, or for local people to be refunded for the two days they cannot travel.

The Mayor's Transport Adviser finally caved in to Sarah's demands last week, and Transport for London (TfL) have now written to the local MP to say that the Metropolitan line will stop at Willesden Green station at weekends from the 14th November.

However, in a warning of more disruption still to come, TfL said that there would be occasions when both lines were suspended simultaneously.

Local Liberal Democrat MP for Brent East Sarah Teather said:

"It's great news that City Hall have responded to our campaign for a full seven day tube service from Willesden Green. Hundreds of local people have signed my petition and supported the campaign, and I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who got involved.

"Local people are shelling out significant sums of money every week in order to use the tube, and they should quite rightly get what they pay for. I'm really pleased that from the 14th of November the Metropolitan line will stop at Willesden Green at the weekends.

"The public outrage over this issue should have taught Transport for London that they cannot treat their customers badly and expect to get away with it. Any further suspensions to lines running through Brent must be kept to an absolute minimum and come with suitable replacement services, or compensation for local people."
